      Fonix Corporation, Inc. (FONX:OTC:BB)

  • Corporate Web site: http://www.fonix.com
  • Shares Outstanding: 96.8 million
  • Public Float: 50.3 million

Fonix Corporation, Inc. (FONX) based in Salt Lake City, Utah is a development-stage company engaged in the research and development of a comprehensive array of products and technologies that allow humans to interact with computers and other chip related electronic devices in a more efficient, intuitive and natural way. Specifically, Fonix Corporation has developed proprietary automated speech recognition and related technologies such as TTS (Text-To-Speech), handwriting recognition, and speech compression. FONX's proprietary speech recognition technology is based on neural networks which are computer models simulating the way the human brain processes information. The company licenses its products to/or has marketing agreements with major players like: Intel, Lucent, Microsoft, Infineon Technologies, General Magic, Nortel Networks, Sun Microsystems, Siemans AG, and a host of other lesser known companies. FONX products are readily implemented on multiple hardware and software platforms using its FAAST (Fonix Advanced Application Speech Toolkit) software development toolkit.

Fonix's core technologies are currently available on the Intel StrongARM SA-1100 processor. The combination of Fonix speech technology operating on the StrongARM chip offer a wide variety of embedded applications including cell phones, hand-held PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), Web pads, smart appliances, and numerous automotive applications. The corporate relationships with Intel and others are maturing. The expensive R&D is finally paying off. Lucent, Sun, Nortel, and General Magic are all using Fonix's premiere TTS engine. Recently, General Motors announced plans to use its new wave OnStar technology in millions of new vehicles... OnStar uses Fonix's TTS as a core component.

Fonix Corporation appears to be better positioned to take advantage of these burgeoning opportunities than at any time in its history. Fonix has a new CEO and Board of Directors. The chronic financial problems and ill-advised financial deals appear to be in the past. FONX closed Friday at $.95 on 6,512,400 shares traded.

Good trading... Stockprowler
