Stockprowler readers will note some changes to the Web site. We hope these changes will make using the site easier and more convenient… additional changes/additions are in the planning stages for the upcoming months. As we mentioned last week, the Stockprowler Scoreboard is now a separate page… just click on the link at the top of this page. Because of the Christmas holiday, the Stockprowler report will be somewhat shorter than usual. Recent pick, MTLM (Nasdaq), pulled back sharply on big volume Tuesday. Stockprowler believes this was likely the result of short selling in conjunction with convertible preferred bond holders exercising their right to convert to shares of common stock… Last week’s pick, HYBN (OTC:BB), exploded Monday on 20 times normal volume moving from 1 1/16 at the close on the previous Friday to an intraday high Monday of 1 15/16 and a close at 1 3/4 . However, the stock price dropped through the week, albeit on smaller volumes, and closed on Thursday at 1 1/8. Though undoubtedly many Stockprowlers cashed in for quick gains.. Stockprowler.com issues a watch advisory again this week on chip maker, Patriot Scientific, Inc….PTSC (OTC:BB) moved up 50% this week closing out the week on Thursday with very heavy volume (over 900,000 shares). Stockprowler is contemplating a full report on PTSC in the next couple of weeks… Also, a watch is issued for TCBG (OTC:BB) maker of children’s beverages using a patented self contained fluid dispensing system. The company’s products are being marketed nationally by retailers like Wal-Mart… looks very promising… market potential here is huge. And now the Stockprowler pick of the week… VDC (Amex) - Greenwich, Conn. based VDC Communications, Inc. wholesales international and U.S. long-distance carrier services to long-distance phone companies. The company has developed a network of both wholly owned routes and resale arrangements. VDC has international gateway facilities in New York and Los Angeles. In addition to expanding its routes in the U.S., it is developing routes into emerging world markets. VDC is expanding its operations to offer a broader base of service including international 800 service, prepaid calling cards, and international data transmission. VDC Communications recently formed a new subsidiary, WorldConnectTelecom.com, as part of its strategy to enter the VoIP internet telephony market. Insiders own 24% of the outstanding 21.5 million shares. VDC closed at 1 1/4 on Thursday up 5/16 with 327,500 shares traded (6 times average volume)… there were 3 large block buys near the close on Thursday. The Stockprowler software/database is showing sudden heavy accumulation… Happy Holidays… Stockprowler |
