First, let's start with some of the e-mail received this week. A few Stockprowler readers are wondering why their picks haven't "taken off yet". Stockprowler urges patience...we are dealing with microcaps...stocks under $3 a share...and these stocks don't necessarilly follow their bigger bretheren...and usually don't. These are highly speculative stocks. Stockprowler.com carefully considers every stock's potential before making a call...we do our best...but the potential doesn't necessarily unfold in a few weeks. Quite often while the larger market is booming, these little stocks do their worst... Anyway...down to business. Let's hit the updates: QSRI...heating oil prices are expected to rise 50% this winter in the Northeast...just off the newswires today. QSRI is a very safe bet at these price levels...upside looks very good, as Stockprowler has stated before. CXI... Commodore Applied Technologies, Inc. got $2.5 million in a private placement financing deal...CXI issued 350,000 shares of a new series E convertible preferred stock. The proposed merger agreement between CXI and Global Energy, Inc. was allowed to expire on October 31,1999, i.e., it didn't happen. CXI's decision to go it alone likely indicates CXI's level of confidence in its SET technology. Stockprowler believes that the $2.5 million cash infusion combined with the Army demo dollars puts CXI in excellent shape for the immediate future. In addition, it appears that former Reagan energy advisor, Robert McFarlane, is on board as a consultant even though the proposed merger didn't take place... McFarlane's D.C. connections are invaluable. The news was announced after the close on Friday...look for a favorable market reaction next week. ICOM... a news conference is scheduled for Friday, November 12, 1999 for the purpose of announcing its third quarter results and its future plans. It was also announced that its symbol will change to ICOMC on Monday, this relating to a Nasdaq temporary exception for continued listing. In spite of what appears to be negative news, ICOM closed up on Friday on heavy volume (1.6 million shares). The Stockprowler software/database showed maximum accumulation for the day. It is the opinion of Stockprowler that heavy buying is occurring in anticipation of big news next week. SBAS...Starbase announced its intention this week of acquiring ObjectShare, Inc. The market's reaction was less than positive... Stockprowler believes that although the market may perceive this as another Stow stumble... longer term it may be viewed as a master stroke, fitting nicely into the SBAS strategic plan.

And now...the Stockprowler Pick of the Week... actually, we are doing a twin-pick this week. Pick your poison:

VLAB (Nasdaq) - VideoLabs, Inc. closed up Friday at 2 7/32. VLAB has been trading at above average volume levels... and has been showing very heavy accumulation on the Stockprowler software/database for the past 2 weeks. VideoLabs, Inc. is rapidly emerging as leading company in the business to business teleconferencing sector encompassing audio/video/data transmission. VLAB recently acquired Acoustic Communications... a nice fit. Third quarter revenues were $4.2 million compared to $1.4 million for the same quarter last year. EPS is 6 cents vs. a loss of 3 cents/share third quarter last year. VLAB is reminiscent of Gentner(GTNR) which has seen a meteoric rise since May of this year... Gentner is also involved in business conferencing equipment and solutions.

PAGE (Nasdaq) - Paging Network, Inc. closed Friday at 31/32 with 2.6 million shares traded. PAGE is a provider of paging and wireless messaging services with revenues of $578 million for the 6 months ending June 1999 and a net loss of $147 million for the same period. So what are we looking at here... just another company on the skids?... I don't think so. Earnings for the Sept 30 quarter are due out on Wednesday, November 10. Rumors are rampant about spectrum... also, stock price has been moving sideways on heavy volume for the past few weeks. Stockprowler has been down this road before... listen to the volume. One of the best buy scenarios happens when volume surges without a corresponding movement in price...what is occurring is that buyers are stronger than sellers, and once they take out the last of the seller's shares, the stock price takes off. It might take a while, given that there are 100 million shares out there, but something is going on... the Stockprowler software/database is showing the continued accumulation. Remember this is a very speculative stock... you could reap significant rewards... or you could lose your entire investment. Invest only what you can comfortably afford to lose.

Good trading... Stockprowler!
