Just a brief update on a previous Stockprowler pick, DNKY. The Stockprowler software/database is beginning to show strong accumulation as the stock price indicates signs of life once again. DonnKenny, Inc. announced 3 rd quarter results recently and hopefully the bad news is out and now behind them. The company has undertaken a restructuring of management, has out sourced manufacturing and eliminated a lot of overhead, tightened quality control, and has recently created a more marketable mix of products. Look for these moves to show up on the bottom line the next couple of quarters. DNKY is trading well below book value. As many of you are aware, China and the United States reached an agreement last week paving the way to Beijing's entry into the World Trade Organization and opening the door to an estimated market of 1.2 billion consumers. The signing of this agreement has since spawned a startling surge in stocks having anything to do with China. Take a look at an intraday chart for XING on November 17 & 18. The stock price shot up from around $3 to nearly $30/share before closing at $22. Or how about troubled little ACEI (American Champion Entertainment, Inc.)...it leaped from 30 cents to nearly $5/share in intraday trading November 18...volume was 160 times normal! All on the strength of ACEI reporting that it was engaged in talks to buy an 80% stake in Beijing's Great Wall International Sports Media Co. A week later investors are still chasing the China bubble... OK...and now the Stockprowler pick of this week is... API (Amex) - Something is up at Advanced Photonix, Inc. Did I just hear someone say I never heard of it? That might be about to change... API's stock price surged 20% Friday on 22 times normal volume. In addition, the Stockprowler software/database is showing sudden dramatic accumulation. The California based company makes light-emitting diodes, photodetectors, and other optoelectronic devices to detect light in measurement, control, and monitoring applications used in industrial, medical, military, scientific, and commercial markets. Raytheon, a big defense contractor, is one of API's largest accounts. The company has $2.3 million in cash... only 10.8 million shares outstanding and a float of 5.2 million. No news out yet...but it shouldn't take much to get this one moving. Advanced Photonix closed Friday at 11/16... Good trading... Stockprowler |
